Adobe and Christian Kovan Introduce Dress with Flexible Display

At the Fashion Week in New York, Adobe unveiled a groundbreaking creation called Project Primrose. This innovative dress features “flexible textile displays” and was developed in collaboration with British designer Christian Kovan, who incorporated Adobe’s “smart display fabric” technology.

The dress, designed by Kovan, is made up of 1264 liquid crystal “petals” that have been intricately carved using laser technology from a polymer material. This unique construction allows the dress to showcase various patterns and images, essentially transforming it into a programmable screen.

The debut of this cutting-edge technology occurred in October 2023 during the Max conference, where Adobe showcased an interactive dress featuring their “flexible textile displays.” Prior to this, Adobe had experimented with integrating the “smart display” technology on flat surfaces and small handbags.
