The Finland police have received a report regarding a food delivery robot that crashed into a car and then disappeared from the scene of the crime, according to data from the Finnish public television company Yle. The robot is owned by S Group, a retail trade giant in Finland. The incident took place over the weekend in the capital city of Helsinki and was witnessed by an anonymous passerby.
According to the witness, the robot was navigating along a snowy sidewalk when it lost control and veered towards a parked car. The slippery conditions prevented the robot from moving, causing it to collide with the car and become stuck. As a result, both doors of the car sustained scratches.
The passerby then stepped in and removed the robot from the roadway, but the robot mysteriously disappeared from the scene thereafter. Left with no other option, the witness alerted emergency services about the “traffic accident”. When the police arrived, they requested identification from the passerby and acknowledged that they had never encountered a situation like this before. S Group, the company responsible for overseeing the deployment of the robots throughout Finland, has launched an investigation into the incident.
