The most populated district of Georgia, Fulton, numbering more than 1 million inhabitants, was faced with a large-scale failure in the work of information systems due to cyber attacks that occurred on the weekend.
The Council of Commissars of the District announced that the attack affected telephone systems of institutions and online operations, including the issuance of weapons licenses and marriage. The Council added that the incident is actively investigated by law enforcement agencies.
It is noted that the investigation is at an early stage, so now the authorities of the Fulton district can provide limited information. Kiberataka affected a number of the main technological platforms – the telephone system, the judicial system, and the tax system. The specific timing of the restoration of services of the district authorities cannot yet be called.
The FBI informed the local media that she was taking part in the investigation of the attack. On the website of the okrug there is an announcement with a call to residents to contact the service support for Fulton customers by e-mail in connection with the disconnection of telephone systems.
Most of Fulton Okrug offices are open, but the tax commissar did not work on Monday. Many other institutions work in a limited mode while the IT department is engaged in eliminating failures. Public computers in the district libraries did not work on Monday but continued their work since Tuesday. Local television channels report that residents are faced with massive problems when they came to challenge property on property or visited automobile inspections.
At the moment, no group has taken responsibility for the attack.
