The experimental release of the open implementation of Win32 API – Wine 9.1 has taken place. This release comes after the successful release of Wine 9.0, which saw 42 error reports resolved and 270 changes implemented. It is worth noting that the Wine project has adopted a new version numbering scheme starting from the 2.x branch. Stable releases now increment the first digit in the version number, while updates to stable releases modify the third digit. On the other hand, experimental versions leading up to a major release see changes in the second number.
Among the most significant changes in Wine 9.1 are the following:
- Improved support for input methods, including the enhancement of the SendinPut() function and complete rewriting of the XinputGetcapabilites function.
- Enhanced support for the Diffie-Hellman (DH) key exchange protocol, with the addition of options for configuring and obtaining DH parameters, as well as the implementation of handlers for creating key pairs.
- Improved recognition of keyboards with a DVorak layout.
- Resolution of errors affecting specific games such as Polda 1, Lego Racers, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, and Forza Horizon 4.
- Resolution of errors affecting various applications, including Visio 2013, Automation License Manager, BlindWrite 7, Simatic WinCC, Guide 7.0, Uniene Heaven Benchmark 4.0, Mame 0.257, Speedwave, Kakaotalk, Microsoft Safety Scanner, AVG Antivirus, Windows Sysinternals Process Explorer 17.05, and Notepad.
