After five months of development, the console file manager midnight commander 4.8.31 has been released. The release can be found here and the source texts are published under the GPLV3+ license.
The main changes in midnight commander 4.8.31 include:
- VFS adds support for compression format LZO/Lzop.
- Virtual fs uc1541, providing access to the disk images of the Comodore Vic20/C64/C128, has been updated to version 3.6.
- The implementation of the virtual fs s3+ used for access to the Amazon AWS S3 vault, has been transferred to Python 3.
- In VFS, support for the server and the protocol Fish has been added.
- The requirements for the GLIB version are now increased, requiring at least 2.32.0.
- Support for the purpose of flowers for isolation in the editor of unprintable characters has been added to the design themes.
- On the FreeBSD platform, support for file attributes has been added in the Ext2FS driver.
- The problem with incorrect time changes after the resumption of the interrupted copying operation has been solved.
- Selected columns can now be removed in the editor.
- The problem with processing hard links in Tar VFS has been solved.
- The problem with the names of files that include Cyrillic or diacritic symbols in Shell VFS has been solved.
