Apple announced significant changes in the App Store policy, which open the doors for the Xbox Cloud Streaming and GeForce Now game streaming services. Earlier, these services were available to iOS users only through the web browser, now they will be able to offer full-fledged applications.
According to Apple, now developers can present a single application that can translate all games from their catalog. Changes will be available to users around the world.
In 2020, Apple created the conditions for placing cloud gaming services in the App Store. However, in practice, each game should have been presented and considered as a separate application. Thus, the transition to the possibility of providing one application with an extensive catalog of games is an important change.
Apple noted that each experience proposed in the App Store Appendix must comply with all the APP Store review policies, and the “parental” application must have an age rating corresponding to the highest rating of content included in the application.
In addition, developers will now improve the possibilities of finding streaming games, mini-applications, mini-games, chat bots and plugins as part of their applications that can introduce a system of in-game purchases of Apple-digital content or services, for example, a subscription to a separate Chat Bot.
This decision is part of a series of changes in the App Store policy in connection with the investigation of the European Commission on antimonopoly regulation issues. Among other declared changes – the ability to establish a preferred default browser at the first launch of Safari, including browsers working on third -party engines.
