Oracle published the latest version of the virtualization system, Virtualbox 7.0.14, with 14 corrections. Additionally, updates were made to the previous version, Virtualbox 6.1.50 C, with 7 important changes. These changes include support for RHEL 9.4 and 8.9 distributions, as well as the ability to import and export virtual machines with NVME drive controllers and a CD/DVD virtual drive.
The main changes in Virtualbox 7.0.14 are as follows:
- Improved support for 3D.
- Added support for importing and exporting virtual machine images in OVF format that contain NVMe drive controllers.
- Added support for exporting virtual machine images in OVF format that include a carrier inserted into the CD/DVD virtual drive tied to the Virtio-SCCSI controller.
- Provided support for packages with a core supplied to Rhel 9.4, for hosts and guest systems with Linux.
- Solved the issue of an emergency stop of work in Vboxvideo on guest systems with Linux that have a nucleus from Rhel 8.9.
- Implemented the possibility of installing additions to an alternative root catalog (‘Pkgadd -r’) for guest systems with Solaris.
- Removing additions for guest systems with Solaris no longer requires the restart of the virtual machine.
- Established the correct display of measurement units in the memory consumption set in the VirtualSystemDescription parameter.
- Solved problems with switching sound devices when using the sound backend WAS on hosts with Windows.
- Solved the problem of loss of touchscreen functionality in guest systems with Windows when the user holds the press for a long time without moving their finger.
- Added support for new storage devices on hosts with MacOS and eliminated memory leaks in the vboxintnetswitch process when the virtual machine uses the internal network.
