KDE Enhances Scaling and Adds Auto-Preservation to Dolphin

KDE Project Prepares for Release of KDE 6

Nate Graham, a developer engaged in quality control in the KDE project, published a report on preparation for the release of KDE 6, planned for February 28. The development of KDE Plasma 6.0 and KDE GEARS 6.0 code base in a separate repository and the accumulation of changes for KDE Plasma 6.1 and KDE GEARS 24.05 began in the Master branch.

Changes Included in the Master Branch

The following changes will appear in KDE Plasma 6.1 and KDE GEARS 24.05:

  • In the Dolphin file manager, automatic preservation of open windows and tabs is ensured, allowing the condition of these elements to be restored in case of emergency completion or system restart. Additionally, support for controlling the files of the basket and backup copies, including hidden files, has been added. The update also introduces support for disconnecting the contents of the separated panel (Split View) in a separate window.
  • In the Okular viewer, support for displaying the drop-down menu used in some types of PDF documents has been added.
  • The applet with information about the network parameters now displays the wireless channel number in addition to the frequency.
  • The system for creating screenshots now provides additional substitutions for use in the names of screenshots and screenshots. This includes substituting epoch-time and/or a clock challenge in a 12-hour format.
