Wayland-Protocols Update
After the development of published release of the package wayland-protocols 1.33, containing a set of protocols and extensions that complement the capabilities of the basic protocol Wayland and provide opportunities necessary for building composite servers and user circles.
All protocols are sequentially undergoing three phases – development, testing and stabilization. After completing the development stage (category “unstable“) the protocol is placed in the branch “staging” and officially included in the set of Wayland-protocols, and after completion of the testing is moved in the category of stable. Protocols from the “Staging” category can already be used in composite servers and customers, where the functionality associated with them requires. Unlike the “Unstable” category, “Staging” is prohibited from making changes that violate compatibility, but in case of detection of problems and flaws during testing, a new significant version of the protocol or other Wayland expanding is excluded.
In the new version, it was transferred to the category of stable protocol “linux-dmabuf“, which provides the joint use of several video cards using DMA-Buf technology (allows you to create WL_Buffer based on DMA-BUF). Added a new protocol “ext-transient-seat” which is placed in the category “Staging”. The new protocol can be used to create temporary independent
