Kilborg Man Unveils Exoskeleton: Hypershell Prox

Hypershell, a startup in the field of robotics, unveiled its latest creation, the exoskeleton Prox, at the CES 2024 exhibition. This cutting-edge device for the lower body, equipped with a powerful one-horsepower motor, is attracting attention from those who aspire to be like iconic crime-fighting characters such as Inspector Gadget or Robocop.

The Prox exoskeleton, designed by Hypershell, is a state-of-the-art device that attaches to the user’s belt and hips, offering customizable assistance. When operating at maximum power, it is capable of reaching speeds of up to 20 km/h. This versatile exoskeleton is suitable for a wide range of activities including hiking, running, cycling, and even mountaineering. It is particularly advantageous for tourists carrying heavy backpacks, as it can compensate for up to 30 kg of load.

Featuring nine joints, one of which is motorized while the remaining eight are passive, the Prox exoskeleton offers a broad range of movements.

To ensure durability and practicality, the Prox exoskeleton is protected against moisture and dust with an IP54 rating. It can operate in temperatures as low as -20 °C. However, it is not designed for skiing or snowboarding. The exoskeleton is equipped with 14.8-volt rechargeable batteries, offering a range of up to 16 miles or eight hours of continuous operation. Charging the batteries takes approximately four hours. Furthermore, weighing only 2 kg when folded, the Prox can be easily transported.

The Prox exoskeleton is available for pre-order on the Hypershell website at a price starting from $799. The expected start of deliveries is scheduled for May.
