Leah Rowe, the main developer and founder of the distribution Libreboot, has made an announcement regarding the implementation of the hp elitebook 820 g2. Minifree, which was founded by Libreboot developers, has started selling a pre-installed version of the HPElitebook820G2 with the December version of Libreboot. It is worth noting that the income generated from the sale will be used to fund further work on the project.
The HPElitebook820G2model, launched in 2015, features a 12.5-inch screen and is equipped with Intel Core i5-5200U, i5-5300U, i7-5500U, and i7-5600U processors, along with Intel HD Graphics 5500 built-in graphics.
Libreboot is known for developing the finished assembly coreboot, which provides a replacement for the proprietary firmware UEFI and BIOS. This proprietary firmware is responsible for initializing the CPU, memory, peripheral devices, and other equipment components. Libreboot aims to minimize the use of binary inserts and create a systemic environment that allows users to avoid proprietary software not only at the operating system level but also at the firmware level.
