Wi-Fi Alliance Releases Wi-Fi 7 Standard

Wi-Fi Alliance Organization Officially
introduced
The final version of the technical specifications for the Wi-Fi 7 wireless communication standard (Wi-Fi Certified 7TM).
The new standard introduces advanced capabilities that must improve Wi-Fi performance and connection in different conditions.
There are already devices on the market with its support, but now the manufacturers will need to comply with a number of rules
in order to meet the requirements of the standard.

The main innovations of Wi-Fi 7 include:

  • Support for 320 MHz channels in countries where the 6 GHz range for Wi-Fi;
  • Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology for simultaneously transmitting data through several channels is allowed.
    It allows you to reduce delays and increase the reliability of the connection;
  • Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) 4K, which increases the transmission speed by 20% compared to 1024 QAM;
  • Implementation of 512 Compressed Block-ack to increase efficiency and reduce losses;
  • Multi-RU technology, which provides flexibility in planning the range resources, increasing its effectiveness.

It is noted that Wi-Fi 7 will have reverse compatibility with old devices.
The devices themselves with support for past versions of the standard will not receive direct benefits from Wi-Fi 7,
but the advantages will be noticeable as new gadgets in the market are released.
According to forecasts, in 2024, more than 233 million devices with Wi-Fi 7 support can enter the market,
and by 2028 their number will increase to 2.1 billion.

The development of chips with support for Wi-Fi 7 involves Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek.
