15 months after the formation of the last update published the release of the operating system netBSD 9.3 . To download prepared installation images in size 470 MB, available in the assembly for 57 system architectures and 16 different CPU families. Version 9.3 is completely compatible with the past outputs of the branch 9.x and contains important corrections, including those associated with the elimination of vulnerabilities.
Initially, it was supposed to form a new significant issue of NetBSD 10.0, but due to the need to solve compatibility problems associated with the implementation of access control lists for FFS, it was decided to postpone a significant release and publish an additional intermediate production of the branch 9.x, allocating additional time for stabilization code base.
The main improvements in NetBSD 9.3:
- Supporting the sleeping mode (Suspend/Resume) is significantly improved. Many drivers solve problems with locks and preservation of the condition that manifested when moving to sleep mode.
- Equipment support in devices drivers.
- Added support for new intel gigabit Ethernet Chips.
- Improved support for new Intel and AMD Zen 3.
- Social compatibility with UDF (Universal Disk Format) file systems is provided, including corrections to achieve complete compatibility with UDF sections created in Windows 10 (taking into account features and errors).
