The third heat wave that is currently affecting France will continue next week, with a scorching peak expected Friday in most of the country, announced Météo-France on Sunday August 7.
Sunday and Monday, only two departments – Le Gard and Le Vaucluse – are affected by an orange alert for heat wave , said Christelle Robert, forecaster in Météo-France. “The number of orange alert departments should increase over the week,” she warned. In addition, sixteen departments, located mainly around mountainous macifs, are in yellow vigilance for thunderstorms (not represented on the map).
