France was crowned European Champion of Swimming of the mixed 4 × 100 m Related Relais Monday August 15, in Rome.
The French relay, composed of Maxime Grousset, Charles Rihoux, Charlotte Bonnet and Marie Wattel, won with a time of 3 min 22 sec 80, in front of Great Britain (3 min 23 sec 30) and Sweden (3 min 23sec 40).
Second medal of the day for Wattel
At 2 e place after the third relay, provided by Charlotte Bonnet, seven hundredths of the Italians and Swedes, the French team was able to count on the thunderous relay of Marie Wattel for to take orders. The latter, which also won the silver medal over the 100 m butterfly on Monday, produced a last high level length to allow the mixed relay to be sacred. The 25-year-old Frenchwoman, like Charlotte Bonnet, has already won the gold medal on this discipline at Euro de Glasgow in 2018.
