An explosion of indefinite origin made, Sunday, August 14, at least one dead and “around twenty wounded” in a commercial area of Yerevan, the capital, announced the Armenian authorities. A first assessment that could evolve.
“According to the preliminary data, an explosion occurred which sparked a fire,” said the ministry of emergency situations in a press release.
The explosion occurred in the early afternoon on the wholesale market of Surmalu.
Videos and photos circulating on social networks show a thick column of black smoke rising in the sky. On a video, we can hear several detonations follow one another, such as a crep of fireworks.
According to the ministry of emergency situations, ten fire trucks work on the spot and ten others are on the way to lend them a hand.
