An armed attack on an bus in the center of Jerusalem injured seven people, two of whom seriously, early in the morning, Sunday August 14.

“The police were informed of a shooting against a bus near David’s tomb (…) The police completed the premises and are looking for a suspect who fled,” the police said. A journalist from the France-Presse agency (AFP) noted a strong police deployment in front of this site, located near the lamentation wall, in the old town of Jerusalem.

Magen David Adom, Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, said they intervened after receiving information against a bus in Jerusalem. “There are a total of seven wounded, all aware, a woman and six men, two of whom are in serious condition, during the terrorist attack in the old town of Jerusalem,” said Zaki Heller, spokesperson for the MDA.

nineteen people killed in the spring in attacks

“We arrived quickly on the scene. On rue Ma’ale Hashalom (…) passers -by arrested us to treat two men aged 30 years who were injured on the bus. They were aware and walked with Upper body injuries, “described two MDA rescuers in a testimony relayed by this organization.

In the spring, nineteen people – mostly Israeli civilians inside Israel – had been killed, mainly in attacks by Palestinians. Three Israeli Arab attackers had also been killed. In the process, the Israeli authorities had multiplied the operations in occupied West Bank. More than fifty Palestinians have been killed, including fighters and civilians, in operations and incidents in the West Bank.

Last week, the Israeli army led a “preventive operation” against Islamic jihad, an armed Islamist movement, in the Gaza Strip, which replied with Roquettes Salves against Israel. At least 49 Palestinians, including fighters from Islamic jihad but also children, died in this military climbing weekend which ended last Sunday with a truce favored by the mediation of Egypt.
