French swimmers Maxime Grousset and Charlotte Bonnet won a silver medal on Friday August 12, respectively on the 50 m butterfly and the 100 m free swimming of the European championships in Rome.
Maxime Grousset, 23, ranked second with a time of 22 s 97, behind the Italian, Thomas Ceccon, crowned European champion in 22 s 89, and in front of the Portuguese, Diogo Matos Ribeiro (23 s 07). He thus qualified for the final with the fifth chrono of the semi-finals (48 s 15), far from his brand established at the Worlds of Budapest, where he had won the silver medal (47 s 64), behind Romanian , David Popovici. The other Frenchman engaged in the semi-finals, Hadrien Salvan, has produced the tenth time, failing at the gates of the final.
“I am still happy, this is my first medal in the European championship”, reacted Maxime Grousset. “I’m going to satisfy myself with that and qualifying in the 100 -meter final. It was the goal.”
