“Green culture” (5/11). Perched on a wisdom hill, this young “Fabbrica Cultural” Corsica combines market gardening and cultural programming, in the shadow of chestnut trees.

Everything started from a agrarian and arty robinsonnade in a vast family domain abandoned in Péve, in Haute-Corse. On this wooded hill overhanging the bay of Saint-Florent, all in elevation, terraces and irrigation basins, located a good half hour by Bastia car, the director and artist Antoine Viviani, 30-year-old Parisian with Corsican Vivace origins , saw the possibility of a utopian, collaborative and nourishing island.
The organization, in the summer of 2016, of a large residence and a multidisciplinary international festival, Summer Camp Bohème in the shade of majestic chestnut trees, was the matrix of the reactivation project. Providenza was outlined, and the summer phalansère has since swarmed. After the creation of a permaculture market gardening garden, the initiative, which had embarked on equity, was recognized as a third place, with regional aid to cultural development, in this rural basin of the Corsican Center, and European aid for the agricultural part and the educational farm.
With his band of friends, Antoine Viviani made the first developments, including a shelter to accommodate the sale of vegetables, training and a catering space in summer, or the design of a “edible amphitheater” , where a film festival, in July, continues with projections, concerts, performances and meetings until September.
creative ecosystem
Gradually, the hill turns into an artistic and scientific laboratory. In addition to a large cabin with a panoramic terrace serving as a base camp for companions, twelve wooden huts are scattered in nature (with solar panels and dry toilets) to accommodate a program of residences for filmmakers, writers, musicians , philosophers, architects…
The community is growing with a whole generation of artists who share the same desire to revitalize the territory in the network. Among the impulses that participate in this creative ecosystem, there are other residences, such as those of Casell’Arte, in a hotel immersed in nature, in Venaco. Or the recent arrival, at the head of the Regional Contemporary Art Fund Corsica, of the art historian Fabien Danesi, passed by Casa Conti, in Oletta. Providenza also multiplies partnerships, as with the Medici workshops or the Fidlab, the co-production platform of the International Festival of Fid Marseille cinema, with the creation of a prize and a writing residence. p>
