Fifteen million registrants were called to the polls on Sunday in order to decide on the text which would replace that inherited from the dictatorship of Pinochet. More than 62 % of the voters rejected the new project after the counting of 72 % of the bulletins.
The Chileans massively rejected, Sunday, September 4, the proposal for a new constitution which aimed to replace that inherited from the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990), according to partial results relating to the counting of 72 % of bulletins voting.
Some 62.2 % of the voters said “reject” the proposal which intended to establish new social rights, in particular in matters of education, health or housing, recognize rights to indigenous peoples or the right to the ‘Abortion, against 37.8 %, according to the electoral authority.
