Release of open game engine VCMI 1.0.0, compatible with Heroes of Might and Magic III

Available Issue vcmi 1.0 developing an open game engine compatible with the data format used in Heroes of Might and Magic III. The important goal of the project is also to support mods, with the help of which it is possible to add new cities, heroes, monsters, artifacts and spells to the game. The initial texts are distributed under the GPLV2 license. Work is supported in Linux, Windows, MacOS and Android.

version 1.0 was formed almost 8 years after the release of 0.99. The change in number 1.0 is a consequence of the achievement of the maximum value of the second version of the version, which, in accordance with the logic of the numbering of versions used in the project, led to the transition to number 1.0 after 0.99. Main changes:

  • Game engine. The artifact Lodestar Grail has been added, making the area a native to all units cove (+1 to attack, protection and speed). Skyship Grail ensures instant disclosure of the entire card without a fight.
  • Adventure card. Several additional buttons and hot keys for light exchange of troops and artifacts were added to the hero exchange window.
  • Artificial intelligence. The alternative Nullkiller algorithm, which works well on small and medium maps, is optionally offered. For large cards, it is better to use the classic AI, which is also significantly improved.
  • modding and new areas. A system of mods is significantly improved in which the possibility of adding new areas is implemented.
  • random cards generator. Added new water settings (normal water and water with islands). New algorithms for generating new sections of areas and the placement of objects provided by mods have been implemented. Improved obstacles.
  • launcher. Added a system of notifications about the possibilities and corrections in new issues. Support for the new mods of mods placed on GitHub.
