Fabien Roussel: “I assume defending work party”

By declaring that I prefer unemployment work, I did not imagine causing such a controversy. What did I say? Some took their most beautiful nodest tunes and saw it as a protruding in the worst reactionary right speeches. Others went so far as to rise against barely hidden racism. What a delirium!

When we talk about others, we first talk about ourselves. By indignant like this, what do they say about themselves? That they resigned. That they have given up the great ambition which should bring together the left: that of eradicating unemployment. If slavery returned tomorrow, they would negotiate with the Medef the weight of the chains. Not me. Because unemployment kills, he screwed up lives. He turns whole families in poverty. It instills the venom of the division everywhere between those who have a job and those who are deprived of it. From where I speak to you, in this northern worker for so long proud of his factories and the know-how of his workers, we know the harshness of work and the cost of unemployment. We intuitively know that unemployment is the “reserve army” of capital, as Marx said so well.

question the liberal logic of unemployment

This is the threat of unemployment that allows MEDEF and Liberals to impose low wages, expanded schedules without supplement of remuneration, the infernal daily life of a life without break and without pleasures. And we should accept mass unemployment and just guarantee existence income? It is time, on the contrary, to question the liberal logics which have always maintained unemployment rather than eradicating it, which preferred to support it rather than prevent the move of whole sections of our industry.

Let’s open your eyes. The industry represented 24 % of our GDP in 1980 and only 10 % in 2019. Our fishing fleet increased from 11,500 boats, in 1983, to 4,500 today. As for the peasant bleeding, it made us go from 1,263,000 farms in 1979, to 429,000, in 2017. Result: 5 million job deprivation, 2 million RSA beneficiaries, 4.5 million activity premiums paid by CAF. And 10 million French people below the poverty line. Great success.

So, I assume. I fight for a company that fixes itself as a horizon of guaranteeing a job, training, a salary to each of its fellow citizens. And I enroll in false against those who theorize the “end of work”. This speech completely misses the realities that are emerging. Let us have ambition for our country.
