The presidential election of Brazil will decide in the second round. At the end of the first round
Voting, Sunday, October 2, the candidate on the left Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, known as “Lula”, finished in the lead in front of the outgoing far right president, Jair Bolsonaro, with 47.93 % of the votes against 43, 62 %, according to partial results from the Electoral Superior Tribunal (TSE) relating to more than 97 % of stripped bulletins
Nearly 5 million votes separate the two men, Lula counting just over 55 million votes in his favor. But neither of the two candidates having reached an absolute majority, they will be decreed in a second round, Sunday October 30.
Some 156 million Brazilians were called upon to vote for this first round to choose their president for the next four years. Centrist Simone Tébet collects third place, far behind, with 4.21 % of the votes. Labor Ciro Gomes follows it at 3.05 %. All other candidates are around or below 0.50 %. The participation rate of this first round has reached 79%.
