The amendment, voted as part of the examination of the amending finance bill, provides for a revaluation of pensions taking into account the actual level of inflation.
It was not – at all – in the executive plans. The National Assembly voted, Tuesday, July 26, against the government’s opinion, an additional revaluation of 500 million euros for retirement pensions of civil servants, as part of the examination of the rectified budget project for 2022. The vote of This window Amendment of the Libertés, Independent, Overseas and Territories group was acquired by 186 votes against 181 , the left immediately celebrating a” beautiful victory “and the deputies National rally (RN) a” buffove D ‘oxygen “for retirees.
The amendment provides for a revaluation of pensions taking into account the actual level of inflation, or 5.5 % for 2022, while the government proposed a revaluation cumulative at 5.1 % (1.1 % in January then 4 % in July). Almost all the opposition deputies voted for, only the group Les Républicains (LR) sharing between for, against and abstention, while the majority made it block to oppose it, in vain. The Senate dominated by the right can however return to this vote.
The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, tried to clear the subject, ensuring that in the eyes of galloping inflation, “there will most likely be another revaluation of pensions in January 2023”.

The examination since Friday by the assembly of the rectified budget draft is strewn with pitfalls for the majority. Monday evening, for example, 230 million euros for households heating with fuel oil were approved against the government’s advice, which favored aid of 50 million euros.
Saturday, the Assembly decided to allocate 120 million to the departments which paid the RSA in 2022, to fully compensate for the 4 % increase in this service scheduled by the State. The measure was obtained by the conjunction of favorable votes from the left, RN, LR but also deputies from the Horizons group. This is the first time that these majority allies have been marked their difference.
The executive nevertheless glimpsed a radius of sunshine on Tuesday with the vote by the deputies of the envelope of 9.7 billion euros for the acquisition of the small part of EDF which still lacks the State. The renationalization should allow the group, very indebted, to borrow at a lower cost, and give frank cubits to the State to reorganize it as it sees fit.
According to Bruno Le Maire, “nationalizing EDF, it is guaranteeing all our compatriots that they will be able to continue to have electricity at a reduced rate in the coming years, it is a major protection against inflation” . The Minister also stressed that the price these actions to buy, and therefore the amount of state investment has not been established “to little happiness”, but that it was validated on the contrary by the Financial Markets Authority.
