The TGV has the reputation of being expensive. It is true that the price of tickets sometimes exceeds hundred euros, or even more. A blow for purchasing power. Faced with the SNCF prices, the plane or even the car can thus seem more affordable to go on a trip. But is it so true? Because when you look at the average price per kilometer of the various means of transport, the reality of the prices is surprising.
Not to mention that there is another cost to transport: the ecological cost, especially for the climate. Because the emissions of co 2 of the TGV, TER, the plane or the car vary from simple to hundredfold. By combining these two costs, the gaze changes on the most economical modes of transport in the short and long term.
