The fire which has ravaged 7,000 hectares of forest since July 12 at La Teste-de-Buch, in the Arcachon basin, is “now fixed”, that is to say that it does not Progress more, the Gironde prefecture said on Saturday July 23. This fire is always considered “content”. “Thirty households remaining active, monitoring of the massif, the processing of the edges and the reversals of fire as well as the civil engineering works continue,” explained the prefecture.

Despite the magnitude of these two fires (20,800 hectares burned, more than 36,000 people evacuated), no victim is to be deplored. Significant land and air resources – two Canada and two Forest fire attack helicopters – remain mobilized, according to the prefecture.
