Senegalese Sadio Mané designated best African football player of year for second time

Senegalese footballer Sadio Mané, Bayern Munich striker, was appointed best African player of the year 2022 during the CAF Awards ceremony organized by the African Football Confederation (CAF), Thursday July 21 in Rabat. He had already won this award in 2019 when he was playing in Liverpool. The price was not awarded in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVVI-19 pandemic. Sadio Mané, 30, was one of the craftsmen of the coronation of Senegal during the African Cup of Nations (CAN), in February 2022. He notably scored the decisive goal in the final against Egypt .

Transferred this summer to the Bavarian club, the Senegalese was present at the award ceremony, the day after a friendly match won 6 to 2 by his new team in Washington against DC United and in which he scored a goal on penalty. He was ahead of his ex-attack on Attack in Liverpool and CAN finalist, the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, and his compatriot Edouard Mendy, goalkeeper of Chelsea. Sadio Mané began his professional career in Metz (France) before successively joining RB Salzburg, Southampton, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Senegal coach Aliou Cissé won the African coach prize for the year. The Nigerian Asisat Oshala, who plays in club in Barcelona, ​​has won for the fifth time the prize for African player of the year.
