Sad time for the ghost of the Parisian night. Two months after Régine, it is another figure known by its only first name – or diminutive – which disappears. The singer and actress Dani died “from a discomfort” on Monday, July 18, in the region of Tours, her manager told AFP, Lambert Boudier. She was 77 years old. Like Régine, she will have had her great musical success thanks to a third night bird named Serge Gainsbourg. For the elder, it was the little papers (1965); For Dani, like a boomerang, a title composed ten years later, but which was not to be resurrected until 2001, thanks to the intervention of a long -standing fan, Etienne Daho.

“I feel bums and bangs/shake my wounded heart/love like a boomerang/I come back to me for past days.” We are dealing here with pure Gainsbourg with this tragic love in heptasyllables, concluded with blackmail suicide. This is the reason why like a boomerang, proposed for the 1975 Eurovision competition, will be rejected by the French selection committee. Dani will ultimately present Paris Paradis, signed Christine Fontane, already author for her of the hedonist La Vie at 25 years old – “there is no harm, you know, to do good”, repeats the interpreter -, retained the previous year for this same competition. Dani decidedly plays bad luck: due to the death of President Georges Pompidou, in April 1974, France had withdrawn from the competition. A year later, Nicole Rieu (with and hello to you the artist) will be preferred to Dani.

A quarter of a century later, as a boomerang finally becomes a tube broadcast on radio, in its re -recorded duo version with Etienne Daho. A student admirer of Dani, Olivier Julien, had found the band in 1998 in the archives of the Vogue label. With Daho, he wanted to offer a compilation of this forgotten singer, associated with the varieties of the 1970s. The two wipers will then “refuse all record companies”, as Olivier Julien in the world reported in 2001. The best of will appear Finally in 2002.
