On the occasion of “Choose France”, a traditional summit on the attractiveness of France, the Presidency of the Republic announces that fourteen companies have committed to a total amount of 6.7 billion euros.
It is now a well-installed meeting in the presidential agenda. Monday, July 11 is held at the Palace of Versailles the fifth edition of the “Choose France” summit, which welcomes the leaders of large foreign companies to convince them to invest in France. Scheduled in January in face -to -face, postponed for health reasons, the event was rose in emergency after the re -election of Emmanuel Macron, he had to accommodate more than 180 business leaders. Above all, it is an opportunity to announce record investment levels.
Fourteen companies were committed during this summer for a total amount of 6.7 billion euros and the creation of 14,000 lasting jobs in the country, according to information communicated on Sunday July 10 by the Elysée. This is added to the 4 billion already promised at the start of the year. Much more than the previous editions, which had displayed between 3 billion and 4 billion investments.
The sectors represented at this summit are very varied. This ranges from software, with Spanish Amadeus, specialist in tourist reservations, which rely on the creation of 800 jobs in France, at the automobile, with the Vietnamese Vinfast, which plans to recruit 350 to 400 people, including logistics (1,200 jobs announced by Fedex) or health (the GSK laboratory wants to increase its efforts in clinical tests).
These investments must also make it possible to develop employment in French regions, like Accenture, which plans to create 500 jobs within three years in Brest, or Vorwerk, the thermomix manufacturer, which announces a new production site in Eure-et-Loir, with seventy-quarter jobs.
Notable absent from this edition, the GAFA (for Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon), while they were the star guests of the first edition, meetings being organized between the President of the Republic, the wife of Facebook number 2 business, Sheryl Sandberg, and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.
For this event, the whole executive is mobilized. Emmanuel Macron will notably meet the leaders of JP Morgan, Arcelor Mittal, Vinfast, then attend a dinner with the participants. For his part, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, will welcome them for lunch. About twenty ministers are asked to make “Choose France” a strong moment of French politics in terms of attractiveness.
