“The truth is that I am not the one you believe. Most people know me under the name of Mo Farah, but that’s not reality.” This is how Mo Farah , Quadruple Olympic athletics champion, reveals, in a documentary, to have arrived illegally in the United Kingdom under a false identity.

“I was separated from my mother, and I was illegally brought under the name of another child called Mohamed Farah”, explains the British athlete in an interview that will be broadcast on Wednesday July 13 on the BBC .

The one who was Olympic champion in the 5,000 -meter and 10,000 meter events, in 2012 and in 2016, says that he had received the name of Mohamed Farah from a woman who had brought him to the kingdom -Uni – telling him that he would join relatives – from Djibouti, country of East Africa, at the age of 9.

The 39 -year -old athlete, whose father was killed in Somalia when he was 4 years old, says he is actually named Hussein Abdi Kahin. His mother and two brothers live in the separatist region of Somaliland, not recognized by the international community.

“The real story is that I was born in Somaliland, in the north of Somalia, under the name of Hussein Abdi Kahin. Despite what I said in the past, my parents have never lived in the kingdom -Uni “, he explains.
