The International Swimming Federation (Fin) will open an investigation after the testimony of Canadian swimmer Mary-Sophie Harvey who says she was drugged without her knowledge at the end of the last world championships. The 22 -year -old Canadian said on Wednesday July 6 on her account Instagram having been druged on the last night of the competition which took place in Budapest at the end of June.
In a press release sent to the France-Presse agency, Thursday, July 7, the finish said it is “deeply concerned” by the “well-being” of the swimmer and says she is in contact with the Canadian Federation and the Committee of ‘Hungarian organization. “In 2021, the finish adopted measures aimed at protecting swimmers and an independent agent will be responsible for investigating this case,” said the body.

Mary-Sophie Harvey claims to have woken up “completely lost” in the aftermath of the last evening of the Worlds with “dozens of blues” on the body, alongside the manager and the doctor of the Canadian team.
She says she celebrated that night the end of the competition in a “reasonable” way, then no longer remember anything. “There is a four to six o’clock window which I have no memory,” she wrote. “I heard scraps of stories from certain people.” The swimmer, who published photos of her injuries, adds herself “shameful”.
It also suffers from a cracked coast and a slight concussion. “Unfortunately, these events occur more often than we think,” she wrote, also publishing press titles evoking GHB or the phenomenon of syringe bites. “I’m still afraid of thinking about unknown events that night,” she adds.
During the Budapest Worlds, Mary-Sophie Harvey won a bronze medal with her teams from the 4×200 meter relay.
