Two days after a landslide which won a railway construction camp in the state of the manipur, in northern India, the balance sheet continues to increase. The local government and the army announced on Saturday July 2 that twenty-five people had been killed in the disaster, and that almost forty others were still missing.
Rescuers and security forces are continuing the search for possible survivors, but their efforts are hampered by poor weather conditions, especially rains. The situation “remains serious”, said the head of the government of the state of the manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh.
Most of the dead victims, whose bodies were released from the rubble, were reservist soldiers who worked on the railway site. Eighteen people, however, were found alive by the emergency services, according to an army statement. But 12 reservists and 26 civilians are always missing.

At the beginning of the year, at least ten people died in such natural disasters following rains of unusual violence in several parts of India.
According to experts, climate change increases the number of extreme meteorological phenomena in the world, including in India. In this country, dams, deforestation and development projects also contribute to disasters whose human assessment is getting worse.
