COVID-19: Guadeloupe sees an increase of almost 50 % of positive cases in one week

Nearly 2,300 contaminations were noted over the first four days of the week, which prompted the authorities to extend the health measures in force at entry into the territory.

As the summer vacation approaches, the COVVI-19 epidemic is experiencing a net rebound in Guadeloupe. From Monday to Thursday, “the number of people tested positively increased compared to the first four days of the week [last]: 2,299 against 1,552 or an increase of 48 %”, specifies, Friday 1 er July, a press release from the Guadeloupe prefecture.

This rebound had pushed the authorities on Thursday to extend the health measures in force at the entrance to the Guadeloupe territory. Thus, travelers to Guadeloupe will have to present a negative PCR or antigenic test, or a recovery certificate for those who contracted the virus, or display a complete vaccination diagram.

The hospital has also implemented measures to curb the tension induced by this rebound. Since June 15, emergencies no longer welcome patients who will not have passed through the SAMU, center 15 before, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., warned the management of the CHU of Guadeloupe in a press release.

According to the prefecture press release, the incidence rate jumped from one week to the next, from 649.5 to 770.3. The test rate of tests increased from 18.3 % to 20.2 %.

At the same time, the number of clusters also increases, according to the same source. In Guadeloupe, according to the latest health bulletin, only 25 % of the population is triple vaccinated.
