For the second day in a row, approximately one in ten flight will be canceled on Friday at the start and arrival of Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (CDG) due to a strike movement firefighters announced the authorities, Thursday, June 30.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) asked the companies to give up a 5 p.m. planes movement between 7 am for security reasons, the firefighter strike forcing to close part of the tracks of the first French airport. This is the same request as that of the day before, the first day of mobilization of the airport fire soldiers.

Just like Thursday, Air France said that it had canceled more than 10 % of its short and medium-haul flights on Friday at CDG and maintained its long-haul program.

Firefighters “claim a technicality premium and a revaluation of the wages” of wages given “recruitment difficulties at the start of the grid”, explained Daniel Bertone, secretary general of the CGT union of the ADP group, the manager of Paris airports. Their wages are lower than those offered in the departmental fire and rescue services (SDIS), he said.

call for the “multisectoral” strike

Friday, the employees of the Parisian airport platforms are also called by an inter-union to join a “multisectoral” strike, including the ADP group and its subcontractors, in continuity with that of June 9. The notice runs until Sunday included. ADP employees are calling for an increase in wages by 6 %, retroactive at 1 er January, while management offers 3 % at 1 er July, according to union organizations .

This social movement, with rallies planned before the 2nd CDG and 4 of Orly terminals on Friday, risks slowing down passenger flows, approaching installations as well as filter inspection stations. The sorting of luggage could also be affected.

These disturbances “generate delays that can lead to flight cuts, once the delay is too large,” noted Mr. Bertone, even if his counterpart at the CFE-CGC, Rachid Eddaidj, said uncertain of the operational consequences of the movement. The DGAC did not ask for cancellations of preventive flights in Orly. The ADP group, it invited passengers to arrive in advance, namely “three hours [before the scheduled takeoff] for an international flight, two hours for a domestic or European flight”.
