The implosion was announced. The Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and the head of diplomacy, Yaïr Lapid, the two leaders of the eight -part -in -power coalition in Israel, will present a bill to dissolve Parliament and thus cause early elections. These will be the fifths in three years.
“After having exhausted all attempts to stabilize the coalition, the Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, and (…) Yaïr Lapid decided to have the [Dissolution of the Parliament] law in the Knesset next week” -They in a press release, specifying that “the rotation will be done in an orderly manner”. MM. Bennett and Lapid should address the public in the evening.
In June 2021, they had gathered a unique coalition in the history of Israel bringing together parts of the right, center, left and, for the first time, Arab training, in order to put an end to the reign of Benyamin Netanyahu at the head of the government, which held twelve years without discontinuing the reins of power.
However, the Bennett-Lapid coalition agreement also provided for a rotation between the two men at the head of the government and the replacement of Mr. Bennett by Mr. Lapid, in the event of dissolution of the Parliament.
After this announcement, several members of the coalition expressed their surprise. This election could prepare the ground for a return to power of Mr. Netanyahu, who is the head of the opposition.
