The Simeonist citadel has won, but she did not give in. The three outgoing nationalist deputies, Michel Castellani, Jean-Félix Acquaviva and Paul-André Colombani, were re-elected on Sunday June 19, in the second round of the legislative elections in Corsica in contrasting political situations. “It’s a good evening, I am happy with the result,” soberly commented on the president of the Executive Council, Gilles Simeoni, who interprets this success as “a strong message sent to Paris for a political solution”.

The president of the executive, in disgrace with the macronist power, wants to rely on this electoral success to weigh during the opening of negotiations with Paris on the future of Corsica, programmed at the end of the month . The government had put him on the sidelines after his positions where he made the state responsible for the deadly assault by Yvan Colonna on March 2.

m. Simeoni, criticized by his former political allies, also wants to “learn from these legislative elections”. In his Bastiian garden of the 1 re sup> district of Haute-Corse, Michel Castellani, with a score of 63.01 %, cut the grass under the foot of his opponent, the various Center Julien Morganti (36.99 %).

The 2 district of Haute-Corse alone crystallized this necessity of the Sacred Union of Nationalists between the two towers. The outgoing Jean-Félix Acquaviva, pillar of the Simeoni clan, who praised “an epic election”, gains only a short head, with 50.23 % of the votes against François-Xavier Ceccoli (49.77 %), the Departmental boss of the Les Républicains Party (LR) which did not dare to claim the label of the right party. The beaten candidate is only distant from 156 votes and says he is thinking about the possibility of lodging an appeal to the administrative court to contest the result, evoking “violence against assessors of his team in at least one office” and indicating feeding “Doubles that it remains to be verified” in certain municipalities.

Politics Union of circumstance

More than the candidate of the National Rally (RN), the one who held the keys to this ballot was the third man of the first round, the dissident nationalist Lionel Mortini, who had gathered 17.99 % and did not spare his criticism against his former allies.

The other adjustment variable was Core in Fronte, the independence party of Paul-Félix Benedetti, who had not presented a candidate, but weighed on the vote by demonstrating that the formation of Gilles Simeoni could not win alone. On France Bleu RCFM Bleu, Mr. Acquaviva also thanked “all nationalists – in particular Core in Fronte – who chose the patriotic vote”.
