During these elections, the rules to access the second round are different from those of the presidential election. A high abstention rate can send three, or even four candidates in the second round.

This is a subtlety of code French electoral . If no candidate exceeds 50 % of the votes in a constituency, a second round is organized between the first two … and all those who crossed the 12.5 % of registered in the first round, giving rise to triangulars (second round to three candidates), even to quadrangular (four candidates).

Sunday June 12, on the evening of the first round, eight constituencies were affected, two of which in Hauts-de-Seine and Lot-et-Garonne. Philippe Juvin, former candidate for the Primary of the Republicans, will experience it. He arrives second (31.14 %) in the 3 e district of Hauts-de-Seine, behind the candidate of the presidential majority Aurélie Taquillain (32.40 %) and before Sara Tij (Nuts) With its 23.10 %.

In the 2 e , the Natps ecologist, Francesca Pasquini (27.41 %), came first, in front of Baï-Audrey Achidi (set !, 26.79 %) and Marie-Do Aeschlimann (LR, 24.99 %). The three women are qualified for the second round. In the Nièvre and its 2 district, the candidate of the national rally, L Julien Guibert, arrives first with 27.80 % of the votes cast. He will face Patrice Perrot (Ensemble !, 26.75 %), Marie-Anne Guillemain (Noups), is in third place with 24.31 %.

In the 2 e Tarn district: Karen Erodi (Nuts) came first with 29.91 % followed by the overall candidate !, Marie-Christine Verdier-Jouclas (28, 34 %). Less than 1,000 votes separate the two women. RN candidate Julien Bacou qualifies with 23.68 % of the vote.

In Lot-et-Garonne, two constituencies are affected by triangular. The 1 e district, Alexandre Freschi (set!) Skilled in 3 e position with 25.62 % of the votes. He places himself behind Christophe Courregelongue, candidate of the Nuts, who obtained 26.03 %. Finally, in mind, it was the candidate of the National Rally who dominated this first round. Hélène Laporte culminates at 30.55 %.

Finally, in the Lot and its 2 e district, two left -wing candidates came at the top of the first round. Thierry Grossemy (Nuts) harvested 23.73 %, ahead of Huguette Tiegna, of the presidential majority (23.70 %), 13 votes separated, and Christophe Proença (23.16 %), socialist candidate who refused to participate in the Nutples.

With an abstention rate now very strong in the legislative elections (52.49 %), it is rare that more than two candidates arrive in the second round. In 2017, with an abstention at 51.3 %, a single triangular had opposed a candidate the Republic in Democratic Malaurement, a Republican and a candidate of the National Front, in the 1 ‘Dawn. In 2012, with 42.78 % abstention, there were thirty -four triangular in the legislative elections – for 543 duels. In 2007, with an abstention of 39.58 %, it took almost 21 % of the voters to appear in third place in the second round – a single triangular had taken place.
