Two minibus drivers and their 36 passengers had been taken hostage by a gang of the capital. It has not been specified if a ransom was paid.
A new hostage -taking in Haiti has experienced a happy and fast outcome. The 38 people kidnapped Friday in Port-au-Prince by a gang, while they were preparing to travel aboard two minibuses south of Haiti, were released on Saturday 11 June.
“The passengers who had been kidnapped were released and the two buses recovered on June 11,” said the association of Haiti owners and drivers (APCH) on Twitter who does not specify if a ransom has been required and paid to the kidnappers.
The 36 passengers and the two drivers were taken hostage Friday morning by members of the village gang of God, one of the slums of the capital.
at least 200 kidnappings in May
Since the 1 er June 2021, the authorities have lost control of the only road access which links Port-au-Prince to the southern country because, in the space of two kilometers, The national road is totally under the control of armed bands.
