Release Platform Messaging Zulip 5

Release Zulip 5 , server platform for deploying corporate messengers suitable for organizing communicating staff and developers. The project was initially developed by Zulip and was opened after its absorption by Dropbox under the Apache 2.0 license. Server part code written in Python language using the Django framework. Client software Available for Linux, Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS is also provided with a built-in web interface.

The system supports as a direct Messaging between two people and the conduct of group discussions. Zulip can be compared with the .org/wiki/Slack”> Slack and viewed as an intracorporate counterpart, used to communicate and discuss working issues in large groups of employees. The means to track the status and participation simultaneously in several discussions using a filamental display model of messages, which is the optimal compromise between binding to the rooms in Slack and the uniform public Twitter space. The simultaneous filamentous display of all the discussions allows all the groups in one place, while maintaining the logical separation between them.

From the capabilities of Zulip, you can also note the support of sending messages to the user in offline mode (messages will be delivered after appearing in online), saving the full history of the discussion on the server and tools for searching in the archive, the ability to send files in Drag-and-Drop , Autostal highlighting for code transmitted in messages, built-in markup language for quick decoration of lists and text formatting, means for group sending notifications, the ability to create closed groups, integration with Trac, Nagios, GitHub, Jenkins, Git, Subversion, Jira, Puppet , RSS, Twitter and other services, means for binding to visual labels.

Basic innovations :

  • users are given the ability to install statuses in the form of EMOJI in addition to the status messages. Status EMOJI are shown in the sidebar, tape messages and a message drawing field. Animation in Emoji is played only when you hover the mouse pointer to the symbol.
  • Redone the execution of the message drawing field and expanded editing capabilities. Added formatting buttons to highlight text with bold or italics, inserting links and add time. For large messages, the input field can now expand, up to the opening of the entire screen.
