VirtualBox 6.1.34 release

Company Oracle published Corrective release of the virtualization system VirtualBox 6.1.34 , in which 27 corrections are marked. The new version also eliminated 5 vulnerabilities , which are assigned danger levels from 7.8 to 3.8. Details on vulnerabilities are not yet disclosed, but it is known that the most dangerous problem is manifested only on systems with Windows.

Basic Changes :

  • In additions for hosts and guest systems based on Linux added support for Linux 5.17 kernel and solved problems on systems with a kernel 5.14.
  • In additions for Linux guest systems, the initial support for the nuclei of the RHEL 8.6 distribution has been added and problems with changing the screen size for environments with old versions of LIBXRANDR (up to 1.4).
  • in VMM solved problems with emulation instructions “CMPXCHG16B”.
  • improved the performance of the graphic interface in MacOS environments, starting with the release of Big Sur, in a situation where the extensions for the kernel are not loaded.
  • eliminated enlightenment in Ehci emulator, manifested when processing small packages.
  • enlightened in the storage device emulation code, manifested when the cache is disconnected on the host side. Improved NVME status loading.
  • Improved Virtio-SCSI and E1000 drivers code.
  • In the VboxManage utility, it is improved for the ‘NatNetwork List’ command, added options for installing IPv6 prefix (–ipv6-Prefix) and default route for IPv6 (–ipv6-default).
  • In the network subsystem, general improvements in support for IPv4 and IPv6 are made.
  • In a tool for importing OVF images, when importing a virtual machine is provided with the ability to specify another storage controller and port for hard drives.
