The candidate of France unsuitable had not given the consultation voting value value, preferring to see an indicator of “appreciations in their diversity” of the sympathizers of France unsuitable.

Abstention, White vote, Vote for Emmanuel Macron? The results of the consultation of some 310,000 supporters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon for the second round of the presidential election were published, Sunday 17 April, on the campaign site of the Former candidate of France unsuitable . Of the 215,292 participants, the choice of a white vote or no one obtains 37.65%, followed by the vote for Emmanuel Macron (33.40%) and then with abstention (28.96%).

“The result of this consultation is not a setpoint given to anyone”, specifies a text published with the results. Launched three days after the first round by the candidate, who ended in third place (21.95%) and called not to “give one voice to Le Pen,” the consultation on Jean’s militant platform -Luc Mélenchon, popular action, did not logically understand the possibility of support for the national gathering candidate.

The member of Bouches-du-Rhône had already consulted his support in 2017, when he had finished fourth with 19.58% of the votes, with the same exception: “Not a voice on the far right.” The consultation had resulted in similar results: a majority – a little shorter than this year – for white or zero vote (36%), just before the vote for Emmanuel Macron (nearly 35%), a little less than a third party remaining speaking for abstention.

“Not a voice should be worn on the far-right candidate”

In a text presenting the consultation, the former candidate of France unsuitable had written: “[The second round] will untie the contempt of our most fundamental repulsions. A presidency without moral authority will come out.” But, adds -to it, the two finalists “are not equivalent. Marine Le Pen adds to the project of social abuse that she shares with Emmanuel Macron a huge ferment of ethnic and religious exclusion”.

“That’s why I said and I repeat that not a voice should be on the far-right candidate,” says Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “It seems to me to be a sufficient public notice. (…) Go beyond it would be abusing the confidence you have given me”, does it estimate.

m. Mélenchon also specified: “Whatever the result, it should not be interpreted as a setpoint given to anyone, nor between us or for those who listen to us and trust us. He will indicate what are our appreciations in their diversity. “
