The musical service Spotify presented the initiative of Foss Fund, in which he intends During the year, donate 100 thousand euros to developers accompanying various independent open projects. Applicants for support will be nominated by Spotify engineers, after which the specially convened committee will take the recipients of premiums. Projects that will receive bonuses will be announced in May. In its activities, Spotify uses many independent open developments and, using the proposed initiative, intends to repay the community for the creation of high -quality public code.
Funding will be able to receive independent and actively accompanied projects used in Spotify, but not related to any companies and not developed by Spotify employees.
Open projects applicants will be determined on the basis of project nomination with engineers, developers, researchers and Spotify products, as well as through the analysis of the most popular dependencies in the internal repository of Spotify.
It is expected that financial support will help accompanied by projects and the development of their functionality.
