This is an adventurous film, a first feature film that assumes the photo of the solar film in Marseille, summer on the beach, before shaking the towel and going to see elsewhere. In the space of an hour and fifteen minutes, the Summer Eternity, of Emilie Aussel, managed to implode a light bubble, by confronting a group of young revelers with disappearance and mourning. They believed themselves immortal, welded forever, here they are falling from their pedestal, landing with a crash in the world of the suffering.

The summer promises to be Zenith for Lise (Agathe Talrich), long brown hair and mother -of -pearl complexion: she has just obtained her bac and spends her days with Lola (Marcia Fegeas), her best friend, Malo ( Matthieu Lucci), his lover and accomplice, and all the other friends, like Elias (Louis Pluto), Eve (Rose Timbert), Soa (Safinah Mixty Mihidjay) … The air is hot as in Mektoub, My Love. Canto Uno (2017), from Abdellatif Kechiche. But, more than sex, the director endeavors to film this unique fluid circulating inside a strip, where every banal moment can reach the sublime. Where the fatigue of the celebration tomorrow triggers liberating giggles, between two deep sentences. Because there is strong things, the air of nothing: thus, for Lola, love is a suspended moment, necessarily brief, where two beings believe to be gods. But it is a lure, she says, since we are only humans.

The director, born in 1980, does not abuse sequences of smoking and rosé. Very quickly, the film changes. One evening, Malo extends swimming with Lola and it does not come out of dark waters. To believe that a jealous God came down from Olympus to slip among the mortal young people. The filmmaker does not hide her appeal for mythology and, in front of her camera, the Palais Longchamp de Marseille, a recurring character of the film, takes on ancient theater.

interviews facing camera

We will not know anything about the death of Lola, and besides no adult whatever it is (investigator, parent) appears in history. Emilie Aussel, who co-wrote the film with the novelist Emmanuelle Bayamack-Tam and the screenwriter Yacine Badday, focuses on the trajectory of Lise, sounded by the death of her girlfriend. The girl crosses the city, strangely silent, meets a group of performers in full creation, slightly older than her. His loneliness mingles with their doubts, and the Summer Eternity turns out to be more daring, more mysterious too, integrating interviews facing the camera carried out with the actors.
