For the additional workload that constitutes the correction of these examinations, which take place from May 11 to 13, the teachers will be able to ask their head of the school up to four half-days.

Terminal students are in the starting blocks. Their teachers too. Initially scheduled for March, the specialty teaching tests were postponed from May 11 to 13, due to the Pandemic of Covid-19 and its Omicron variant, which disrupted schools at the start of the year. A major issue for all: these writings are worth a third of the final note in the baccalaureate. There remained a blocking point for the teachers called to correct the copies: when to tackle the task, during this month of May already charged by the class councils of the third quarter?
The main teaching unions have mounted in the niche and have just obtained four half-days of teaching discharge. A “maximum package” usable “at the choice of the professor, after agreement of the school head, between May 17 and June 3”, specifies Edouard Geffray, the Director General of School Education within the Ministry of Education national, in an email addressed to representative organizations. The note that formalizes this system must appear in the Official National Education Bulletin this Thursday, May 5.
“reasonable compromise”
For unions, this decision confirms “the additional workload” that this correction of copies causes – around thirty, paid five euros per unit – in the middle of the school year. For Sophie Venetitay, secretary general of SNES-FSU, this measure “goes in the right direction”. The Sgen-CFDT evokes a “late advance”. For Se-Unsa, which nevertheless salutes this development, “this correction time would have gained more important because it is far from covering the necessary time”. Before the bac reform, the teachers corrected the tests at the end of June, at a time when they were no longer used. The course of these specialty tests is a first for this second session of the “Bac Blanquer”. They had been replaced by continuous control last year due to the pandemic.
An additional cog in the organization of the baccalaureate which does not worry the school heads. “It seems to me a reasonable compromise,” said Bruno Bobkiewicz, of the SNPDEN-UNSA, the main union of school heads, while some teaching representatives requested a full week of discharge. For the principal, the number of hours of lessons lost for the students will be limited, the discharges being on request. On the side of the parents of students, the FCPE, through the voice of its co-president Carla Dugault, welcomes “with kindness” this arrangement, while Laurent Zameczkowski, the spokesperson for the Peep, judges the parents “resigned, even disillusioned, by these new hours of course lost for students “.
