The Insoumise France leader deplores, in an interview with the “Journal du Dimanche”, that his political partners, with whom he negotiates a common label in the legislative elections, “let themselves be absorbed by their internal issues”.
The interview has a reminder of order. In the Sunday Journal , Saturday April 30, Jean-Luc Mélenchon calls the left parties, with which he has initiated negotiations for an agreement to the legislative elections , to get out of “the permanent culture of defeat”, regretting that they “let themselves be absorbed by their internal issues”. “We offer them a battle to win. It’s unifying, right? They have to get out of the lose” and “assume the will to win”, according to him.
The bilateral negotiations carried out by rebellious France – very dominant on the left with the 21.95 % obtained by Mr. Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential election – with Europe Ecologie -les Verts, the Socialist Party, the French Communist Party and The new anti -capitalist party, all below 5 %, have experienced successive acceleration and blockages for ten days. The protagonists set themselves this Sunday as a deadline. The Convention for the appointment of the candidates of the People’s Union will take place on May 7.
Concerning the Greens, Mr. Mélenchon judges that “the proximity of the EELV Congress and their internal organizational mode complicate the task. We participate in meetings where they debate between them, rather than agree with us “. He also says to be surprised by the reluctance of environmentalists to his proposal to “disobey” the European Union, when Brussels’ decisions would be deemed incompatible with the program of the left:
Julien Bayou [EELV National Secretary] wrote a book on European disobedience: that he does not come to tell me that he now has a problem with that. As for the ecological protectionism of Yannick Jadot, it is impossible to apply within the framework of current treaties. Disobedience is not the release of the union.
in the PS, “this is the end of the soft synthesis”
Jean-Luc Mélenchon also evokes the suspension of negotiations by the PS, where some great elected officials and a minority current vilify the search for an agreement with LFI, historic antagonist. For Jean-Luc Mélenchon, his score in the first round of the presidential election “decided by putting the center of gravity on the side of the breakage left”, which he intends to embody, and not on the side of social-liberalism:
that Olivier Faure [the first secretary of the PS] tells other socialists to leave if they do not agree, it’s incredible! This is the end of the soft synthesis. By breaking with Hollandism, they make the rebirth of another PS possible. It’s a huge event.
In his eyes, the sharing of the constituencies in the legislative elections is not the real reason for the difficulties of the negotiations. “We guarantee a parliamentary group to everyone. We have known less tender hegemonists,” he said, referring to the accusation of wanting to crush his partners who have formulated suspicious left parties towards the current negotiations.
