The main trade union organizations have appealed to the strike to denounce the sub-effective among drivers.
The spectators of the Champions League final who must oppose, Saturday, May 28, Liverpool to Real Madrid could encounter some difficulties to go to the meeting.
Initially planned in Saint Petersburg in Russia, it was relocated to the Stade de France after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. But the main trade union organizations of the RATP, which launched a call for strike on the RER B for Saturday in order to denounce the sub-employment among the drivers, also called for the strike on the RER A.
CGT, FO, UNSA unions and the base denounce “the lack of staff maintained for several years by the RER” management at the RATP. They protest against “workforce optimization” and call to “strongly impact” the final of the Champions League for which a “fan zone” supposed to welcome tens of thousands of English supporters will also be installed in Vincennes, in the ‘is from Paris.
“The RATP will take all possible measures to ensure the mobility of Ile-de-France for the match on Saturday,” reacted a spokesperson for the management. >
The strike could however have limited consequences because the RATP exploits only the southern part of the RER B. From the Gare du Nord, it is the SNCF which manages the line towards Saint-Denis and Stade de France. Regarding the RER A, the RATP manages most of the line, except the section ranging from Nanterre-Préfecture to Cergy and Poissy.
The RATP management attributes driver staff problems at a significant failure rate on “series”, training sessions for driving the RER, at the end of 2021 and early 2022.
She therefore proposed to organize two additional “series” on the RER A as well as on the B in the second half of 2022, “which brings eight the number of series planned during the year on line A and Five on line B “, can be read in an internal document consulted by the France-Presse agency.
The unions have judged the proposal insufficient and underlined that 34 retirements were scheduled in 2022 on line A and 22 on line B. “The dysfunctions (…) will continue so much the [management] proposal is low” , they underline. The RATP has already been agitated this week by three days of strike on its bus and tram network, while a smaller movement affected three metro lines on Wednesday.
