Opponents of the Alliance led by LFI began to structure themselves during a first coordination meeting. Objective: to support socialist candidates who will want to present themselves on June 12 and 19 in the face of “rebellious”.

Three hours shouting at the sacrilege, to denounce a “scam”, an “LFI opa on the PS”, a “surrender”. “The PS has lost its soul for a lentil dish.” “Can we ally with” rebellious “, anti-Semites, non-republicans?” Sample of boiling interventions that punctuated a meeting particular, Friday May 13. It brought together, in videoconference, more than 500 activists and elected officials of the Socialist Party (PS) frankly hostile to the new Ecological and Social People’s Union (Nuts), born six days earlier, in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis). A political agreement established by Olivier Faure, the first secretary of the PS, with rebellious France (LFI) which, according to them, dishonors their party, by placing it in an unbearable submission with a capital risk of disappearance. They therefore decided to federate, in broad daylight, their dissent to the cloud and the management of the PS.
The three inviting powers were Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region, Hélène Geoffroy, mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône) and official opponent of Olivier Faure under the Socialist standing current! And Stéphane Le Foll, mayor of Le Mans (Sarthe) and former minister of François Hollande. The agenda focused less on the aesthetic questioning of the acronym NUPS which leaves something to be desired, according to Jean-Luc Mélenchon himself, than to start to structure very concretely the movement of socialist candidates who will want to present themselves in the legislative elections ( June 12 and 19) against the “rebellious” invested.
By contemplating this long meeting on a computer, made up of small squares of screens with a multitude of very angry people in it, there was this strange impression of attending the split of the PS live. Loïg Chesnais-Girard, President of the Brittany region, summed up well: “I do not see how the Nuts can survive the Europeans, in two years. There, everything will burst.” There was a lot of question of LFI, but of Olivier Faure Also: “that Olivier Faure insults us, that he tells us to leave. It is shocking”, wondered Maxime Cohen, young activist of the Paris Federation. “Olivier Faure negotiated badly for his comrades, noted Frédéric Cuvillier, former minister of François Hollande. There must be at least as many applications outside the agreement as any candidacies. Support, strength and vigor!” For the Instant, around fifty candidates excluding agreement are ready to launch under the “various left” label, while 70 socialists are invested by the NUPS.
