Release of a minimalistic set of system utilities Toybox 0.8.7

published the release of the set of system utilities Toybox 0.8.7 , like the Busybox designed in the form of a single executable file and optimized for minimal consumption of system resources. The project is developing a former minantineer of Busybox and spreads under the license 0BSD . The main purpose of Toybox is to provide manufacturers with the possibility of using a minimalistic set of standard utilities without opening the initial texts of modified components. According to the capabilities of Toybox so far lags behind from Busybox, but 299 basic commands (220 are completely and 79 partially) of 378 planned. From the innovations of Toybox 0.8.7 we can note:

  • In the category of fully implemented commands of Host, Wget, OpenVT and Deallocvt.
  • Added new commands UCLAMPSET, GPIODETECT, GPIOinfo, GPioIGET, GPIOFIND and GPIOSET.
  • Added the implementation of a simple HTTP server httpd.
  • Remove the command CATV (analogue CAT -V).
  • In the TOP utility, the possibility of switching lists of keys to the left and right and changes in sorting with combinations “Shift + left or right”.
  • Added support for the options “Find -samefile”, “CMP -N”, “TAR –stRip”.
  • LSUSB and LSPCI utilities added to extract the descriptions of devices from files /etc/SB.PCI ].Idssis.gz].
  • IFCONFIG utility adds support for renaming network interfaces.
  • Support for the POST method for sending Web-form data.
