Mali: army said arrested three Europeans suspected of “terrorism” in center of country

The “suspects” were arrested in Diabaly, a locality at a nearly 300 kilometers northwest of Bamako.

Three European nationals suspected of “terrorism” were arrested in the center of Mali during operations against jihadists, announced Tuesday night April 12 the Malian army.

“The Diabaly Fama [Malian Armed Forces] detachment carried out the interpellation on 10 April [Sunday] 2022 of five suspects including three European nationals,” says a statement of the general staff of the armies. The communiqué does not specify the identity of these European “suspects” arrested in Diabaly, a locality at a nearly 300 kilometers northwest of Bamako.

Governed by a military junta since August 2020, Mali has been immersed in the turmoil since 2012. The jihadist propagation, part of the North, has extended to the country and won Burkina Faso and Niger Neighbors.
