Debian developers approved possibility of secret voting

Published General voting results (GR, General Resolution) Developers of the Debian project participating accompanied by packages and maintaining the infrastructure on which the possibility of carrying secret votes , not disclosed the choice of participants (so far after GR- Voting published full lists with information, about which options chose each voting). The need for secret ballots arose last year during the adoption of a resolution against Richard Pokalman due to the fact that not everyone was willing to express their position, since the expression of his opinion could lead to subsequent injury on the part of supporters or opponents of St. Petersburg. During the current vote, it was approved by the possibility of solidifying the opinions of participants (hiding information about who voted for what), but allowing verification to exclude abuse when counting votes. Secret common voting (GR) will be carried out by analogy with the annual elections of the project leader, they will also publish lists of participants who collected participants and selected positions, without the ability to determine which participant has one or another choice.

To exclude abuse from a responsible person who conducts voice accounting is determined by the possibility of an independent recheccation of votes, and for developers, the creation of a mechanism confirming that their voice is taken into account when calculating the results (when choosing a project leader, a cryptographic hash is applied, with which The participant can check the inclusion of his voice, but this method is not protected from the extinguishing of values and requires modernization, for example, use when calculating the hash hidden codes generated by the voice acceptance system for each developer).
